Police in Rivers State have detained a man known only as ThankGod for reportedly beating his pregnant wife to death on Wednesday in Mgbuoba, Port Harcourt.

Ruth, the deceased, had to flee her matrimonial home due to constant beatings. He pleaded her and vowed to change, so she went home with her four children recently. “He beats her repeatedly, despite several interventions from bystanders,” a source said. He handed her N500 to make rice yesterday evening, but she said she was ill, so he began beating her, despite the fact that she is pregnant with their fifth kid.

Neighbors tried to intervene, but he said it was a family affair. When he learned she wasn’t breathing, he dressed her up and wrapped her in a wrapper before attempting to flee.

His tiny daughter, on the other hand, raised an alert, and he was apprehended and turned over to the cops.
