Ogun police arrests nine members of suspected kidnap syndicate
On Sunday, April 24th, nine members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing Abeokuta’s Ayetoro road were apprehended in their hideout at Abule oba, off Ayetoro road, Abeokuta, by men of the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with local hunters, so safe corps, OPC, vigilante, and men of Amotekun corps.

The suspects, identified as Hammed Taiwo, Kehinde Jimoh, Umar Sanda, Sanda Aliu, Ali Morandu, Usman Abubakar, Usman Mohammed, Umaru Ahmadu, and Umaru Momodu, were apprehended after police officers at the Sabo/Ilupeju divisional headquarters received credible intelligence that Hammed Taiwo and Kehinde Jimoh, who are errand okada riders for the kidna
Following the information, SP Mustapha Opawoye of the DPO Sabo/Ilupeju division mobilized his men and moved to the area, where the duo of Hammed Taiwo and Kehinde Jimoh were caught.
They admitted to being members of the syndicate during interrogation, but their role is to run errands and keep an eye on the environment to keep law enforcement agents from catching them off guard.
Their confession lwaled to the discovery of the group’s hideout in Abule oba, off Ayetoro road, where they always gathered after extorting money from their victims.
Following the discovery of the hideout, the DPO rallied his men, including the So Safe Corps, OPC men, local hunters, and Amotekun corps men, and assaulted the location, arresting all nine members of the syndicate.
Preliminary inquiry indicated that the suspects are the group tormenting Abeokuta/Ayetoro route in recent times, according to DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson for the state police command. Some of their abductees have been able to identify them as the perpetrators of their kidnappings.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has expressed satisfaction with his men’s intelligence-based investigation that led to the hoodlums’ arrest and has ordered the suspects’ immediate transfer to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s anti-kidnapping section for discreet investigation.
